Solomon Valley Transportation, Inc.

SVT offers on-demand service for the general public in Jewell, Mitchell & Osborne Counties including passengers with disabilities and seniors.

We will go anywhere as long as we can get there and back during our normal operating hours.

SVT History

Through the help of focus groups in 2010, one common theme was the need for public transportation in our area. With the partnership of Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems (MCHHS), Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation (MCRMF), and Mitchell County Council on Aging (MCCOA), inquiries were made with KDOT to improve and expand the current system. Funding was secured from various stakeholders within the county such as the local nursing home, NCK Wellness Center, MCHHS, etc. to provide the local match for the U.S.C. 49-5311 Kansas Department of Transportation grant. Transportation began in Mitchell County in July of 2011 with 4 part-time drivers, one mini-van and one 12-passenger bus. As time went on, SVT diligently worked to expand transportation services to surrounding counties. After securing additional funds, in early 2014 SVT began providing services in Osborne County. With natural growth, the need to broaden our service area again took shape, thus in July of 2015, SVT began providing services to the citizens of Jewell County. SVT has continued to grow and sustain services in all 3 counties for the past 7 years. Currently, SVT provides an average of 600 rides per month and averages 16,000 miles between all three counties per month.
